To ensure you get the highest performance out of your cooler, we recommend following these handy tips and tricks. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at info@chillymoose.ca

PRE-CHILL BEFORE PACKING

Where possible, pre-chill your empty cooler with ice packs or crushed ice at least 1 hour before packing it. At the same time, ensure all food and drinks are cold before adding it to the ice box.

USE SOLID ICE FOR KEEPING THE CONTENTS COOL

While crushed ice works well for pre-cooling the box, solid or cubed ice will keep your cooler contents cold for longer. This is because you can fit more of it into the available space - i.e. more ice and less air.

PLACE FOOD & DRINKS INSIDE THE COOLER BEFORE THE ICE

Cold air travels downwards - therefore, loading your cold drinks and food first; then cover with ice for the best results. Pack in as much ice as possible, fill it right to the top! This will displace the warmer air and give you maximum ice retention.

KEEP OUT OF THE SUN

Ice will stay intact for significantly longer if the cooler is kept in the shade. Be aware that a tent, caravan and car can all get significantly hotter than the outside temperature. Where possible store the cooler outdoors and out of the sun.

KEEP CLOSED WHEN NOT IN USE

Consider using a separate cooler if you are going to be in and out frequently for drinks, reserving a separate box for infrequently accessed, perishable food. Close the lid tightly once you have taken out what you need.

CARING FOR YOUR COOLER

The large plug on the Chilly Ice Box makes it simple to drain. Clean using a mild eco-friendly soap, soft cloth or sponge and warm water. Avoid using abrasive cleaners and rough scrubbers. Air dry thoroughly with the lid open before storing to avoid mold and mildew.

A NOTE ABOUT THE FEET -- The rubber feet on the bottom of your Chilly Ice Box are designed to come out. If the cooler is dragged across a rough surface (like a truck bed or rough terrain), the edge of the feet can pull out. This is nothing at all to be alarmed about! The cooler is designed this way to allow easy installation of the Chilly Ice Box Wheel Kit, sold separately as an accessory.

If you are not going to use a Wheel Kit on your cooler, we recommend using epoxy to permanently set the feet into place.
